Happy New Year!

I visited Shimonoseki on New Year's eve, and the rest of the pictures are taken the day or two after. The pictures are in a pretty illogical order, but I'm too tired to rearrange them. Blame Blogger for this!

Kaikyo Yume Tower in Shimonoseki. We also had a bit different nickname for it *cough*

The view from the tower
Akama shrine, dedicated to emperor Antoku who was only six(or seven) when he died...the legend is really sad:"The colours and style of the gate are inspired by Ryūgū-jō. The source states that Antoku's grandmother, Nii-no-Ama, who drowned with Antoku, wished for their palace to be created underwater as she jumped into the sea. Ryūgū-jō is a mythical underwater palace, belonging to the dragon god of the sea. In the Tale of Heike, Nii-no-Ama told Antoku, before jumping, that they would go to an underwater palace.

Antoku and a dragon.
A pile of faces.
European style architecture, hmm?
"The fishermen say the Heike samurai wander the bottoms of the Inland Sea still - in the form of crabs. There are crabs to be found here with curious markings on their backs, patterns and indentations that disturbingly resemble the face of a samurai. When caught, these crabs are not eaten, but are returned to the sea in commemoration of the doleful events at Danno-ura."

The 25th hour? Apparently the time flows differently in Japan...
Derpy dragon emas

A New Year's decoration that I made. The leaves show the lighter side, because in Japan white is considered holy
HalloDay: Amusement Food Holes (What the...)
A dragon bun to celebrate the Year of the Dragon!
I love caterpillars! This baby was found on my balcony.
I returned to Yamaguchi before midnight, and visited the Rurikoji temple.
I really like how the pagoda looks in the dark!
A cute girl buying candy apples.
Apparently you are supposed to fo around the sides of the circle first, before finally going through it...
I just thought this picture was funny...the Yamaguchi prefecture is hugging the kids and the blowfish is dressed as policeman...
It was quite atmospheric at the temple..
This face amuses me.

Some new year's stuff I bought: a couple of arrows with a dragon ema+dragon statue+a couple of charms. The gay colored charm wards off bad luck XD
Lopuksi video, jossa buddhalaista messuamista!

You can listen to some buddhist chanting in the video!
